Pocket Angel Pattern

POCKET ANGEL

This pattern has been adjusted to work with 2 needles from the pattern shown on www.lucybug.org, so I dont take any credit for it. Please visit their lovely website for more gorgeous patterns xx

 Size needles: 3mm

 

Wool: Double Knit

 

Abbreviations:

 

Cast On: CO

 

Knit – K

 

Purl – P

 

K2tog – K2tog

 

 

 

Pattern:

 

CO 20 Stitches

 

Rows 1 – 14: Knit

 

Row 15: Purl across row

 

Row 16: *K2, K2tog* repeat across row

 

Row 17 – 29: Knit

 

Row 30: *K1, K2tog* repeat across row

 

Row 31: *K2tog* repeat across row

 

Cut a tail 12-15”

 

Using a darning needle thread the tail through the remaining stitches and pull tightly, sew up your angel leaving enough gap at the bottom for stuffing. Stuff your angel, then using another piece of wool tie it around your angel’s neck to create the head.

 

Wings:

 

CO28 stitches

 

Row 1: K1, P1, repeat across row

 

Row 2: P1, K1, repeat across row

 

Rows 3 & 4: Knit

 

Row 5: *K2tog, K4* twice, *K2tog* twice, *K4, K2tog* twice

 

Row 6: Knit

 

Row 7: *K2tog, K3* twice, K2tog, *K3, K2tog* twice

 

Row 8: Knit

 

Row 9: *K2tog, K2* twice, K1, *K1, K2tog* twice

 

Row 10: Knit

 

Row 11: *K2tig, K1* twice, K1, *K1, K2tog* twice

 

Row 12: Knit

 

Row 13: *K2tog* twice, K1, *K2tog* twice

 

Row 14: Knit

 

Row 15: K2tog, K1, K2tog.

 

CO

 

Cut the tail 3” and tie around middle of wings, this creates the shape.

 

Sew onto back of your angel, making sure the curved part of the wing is at the top.

 

Arms:

 

I cast on 3 stitches and knitted for about 4” or until it was a decent length to make arms for the angel.

 

Sew onto your angel, once sewn on, sew the 2 edges of the arms at the front of the angel together or just leave. Add a halo, either a yellow circle of yarn or a bead garland. You can sew on a decoration between the angel’s hands. I chose a button but a star or flower would look lovely too.
