I like the basket weave style patterns, they look pretty and keep you amused but are not too taxing either, so a nice pattern to make something look a bit more interesting. I, by no means, take any credit for this pattern, there are so many blankets out there which use basket weave but thought I’d add one here as its a good staple pattern to have, especially when knitting for preemies or babies.

Yarn: Double Knit
Needle size: 3 1/4mm

CO 78 stitches

Rows 1-3: Knit
Row 4: Knit first 3 stitches, *K4, P4*, continue pattern within * *, Knit last 3 stitches
Row 5: Knit first 3 stitches, *P4, K4*, continue pattern within * *, Knit last 3 stitches
Repeat rows 4 and 5 until blanket has reached the desired length.
To finish, knit 3 rows and cast off.

Enjoy! 🙂
